Serialized Asset Tags in Kenya

The number is the point

A serialized tag exists to give each asset a unique, never-repeated identity. That number is what auditors, insurers and donors check against your register, so accuracy matters more than decoration.

Three ways to number

Plain sequential numbers, such as 00001 to 00500, are quick and tidy. Prefixed numbers, for example ICT-00001 or ADM-00045, add context so a tag tells you the department before you look anything up. An Excel list lets you keep whatever scheme your register already uses, including gaps and letters.

Avoiding duplicates

Keep a record of the last number issued and start the next batch from there. If you reorder later, tell us where the previous batch ended, and we will continue the run without overlap.

Material

Polyester serves offices and classrooms. Aluminium suits workshops and mixed use, and anodized is for hard-wearing outdoor equipment. Add a barcode or QR code when you want the number to be scanned instead of typed.
