Acetone-Activated Adhesive Asset Tags Explained: How They Work

Acetone-activated adhesive asset tags are asset tags whose adhesive layer stays inactive until it is activated with acetone. Until then the tag is not tacky, which means you can handle it, position it and check the fit without it sticking. Once acetone is applied to the adhesive side, the adhesive becomes active and bonds the tag to the surface.

How to apply (general guide)
- Clean the surface and let it dry. Remove dust, oil and grease.
- Work in a ventilated area away from flames, heat and sparks. Wear gloves.
- Apply acetone to the adhesive side as directed with your kit, using the amount and wait time in the instructions.
- Place the tag on the surface, press firmly and hold for the time given.
- Leave the bond to set before handling or cleaning the asset.
Always test on a hidden spot first. Acetone can damage some paints, plastics and coatings.
Safety
