Choosing the mechanism

Self-inking stamps have the ink pad built in, so one press gives a clean mark; they suit desks and frequent use. Pre-inked stamps produce crisper, finer detail and last for tens of thousands of impressions before re-inking. Date stamps change their date band, which is handy for received, paid and filing marks.

Size and shape

Round stamps are the usual choice for company seals. Rectangles suit address blocks and signature lines. Choose the size to match the space where you will use it: small for invoice corners, large for full address blocks.

Getting the text right

Send the exact wording, with correct spelling and any registration numbers. If you have a logo, supply a black-and-white vector version so the fine lines print cleanly. Keep small text at least 1.5 mm high.

Care

Re-ink with the right colour of ink and avoid oil-based inks on self-inking pads.
