Choosing an ID format

PVC cards are for staff and students who carry them daily. Paper badges are cheap and quick for one-day events and visitors. Plastic badge holders with lanyards are practical for conferences, factories and any place where people need to display ID at chest height.

Photos and codes

For photo IDs, supply passport-style portraits in consistent size and background. A barcode allows attendance and access logging when tied to your database. Check the barcode type that your reader expects.

Data handling

You will send us names, positions and photos, which are personal data. Send them in a single spreadsheet and folder, and tell us if files should be deleted after the job. This is good practice under the Data Protection Act.

Layout

Put the photo and name where they can be seen from a couple of metres, and keep small print such as validity dates in a clear band.
